Description

An important Diageo malt distillery that provides essential fillings to a number of its blended Scotch brands, including Johnnie Walker and White Horse. As such, it is rarely seen officially bottled as a single malt. This particular release is a rare vintage Linkwood single malt whisky, distilled in 1946 and bottled in 1992 by renowned independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail, after maturing for 46 years in a sherry cask.

Nose
The nose is full of juicy sultanas and sherry. Hints of wood shavings and pine oil with feinty notes of rubber and leather and a touch of cereal sweetness.
Palate
The palate is quite full and very smooth with lots of fruit. The oak shines with chewy tannins and a touch of dark nuttiness with mixed peels.
Finish
The finish is quite long and fruity with a good oak.
