This Samaroli Linkwood 2012, bottled in 2022 for The Old Barrelhouse, is an Australian Exclusive release. Distilled in 2012 and aged for 10 years in a single bourbon hogshead, it yielded 294 individually numbered bottles at a cask strength of 56.2% ABV. Samaroli is renowned for selecting only the finest single malt whiskies, and this Linkwood is presented un-chill filtered and of natural color. Nose
A delicious ensemble of warm, lemonade scones, fresh red-apple skins and apricot flesh, vanilla milk bottles, almond biscuits, and a gentle grassy note that weaves through the aromas, turning quite herbal. Also, pears, apples, peaches, nectarines, and a very desirable white pepper 'dusty' note.
Palate
Grapefruit rind, 'three milk cake', brown sugar, fairy floss, red-rippers, spotted cinnamon, and fresh chamomile. A freshness without any hint of youth, with a lingering sense of strength and purpose.
Finish
Mellow notes of toasted oak, malted vanilla, white pepper, and a lingering sweetness that morphs into a drying farewell. Medium length, creamy, with milk bottles.
