Description

This Linkwood 1956 is a 60-year-old single malt whisky from Gordon & MacPhail's Private Collection series. It was distilled on January 3, 1956, and matured in a first-fill sherry hogshead (Cask 20) for six decades. Bottled on June 22, 2016, at 49.4% ABV, only 53 hand-blown decanters were released worldwide. This ultra-rare expression is believed to be the last 1950s cask of Linkwood in Gordon & MacPhail's inventory. The packaging features an award-winning design inspired by the landscape around the Linkwood Distillery.

Nose
Rich, warm, and sweet. Baked apple with raisins, sultanas, crème anglaise, and toffee sauce develop into a heady fruitcake. Notes of dark chocolate and orange tart, wild dark honey, maple syrup, dates, and figs.
Palate
Charming and gently coating the mouth. Full-bodied with good acidity. Sweet, with dark wild honey drizzled over warm apple strudel. Flavours of fruitcake and dark chocolate orange tart.
Finish
Lingering notes of dark chocolate and toffee, hints of leather, oak spice, and a touch of candle wax.
