Description

An old Lowland malt distillery with a tumultuous history. First established in 1772, it operated in fits and starts until its final closure in 1994 and it has since been lost for good following a fire ten years later. Today the brand and remaining stock are owned by the Loch Lomond Group. This is an official bottling of Littlemill 5 Year Old, bottled in the 1970s, likely around 1975, for the Italian market (Aldo Zini Import / Seiba Import). The label proclaims '100% pure Malt'.

Nose
A veritable bouquet of flowers, violets, lilies and dandelion, with some nettles. Also green apples, raw rhubarb and kiwi.
Palate
Very light but spicy, floral, flirting with the edge of soap. Apple sauce with vanilla, tannins, white pepper, liquorice, hint of white chocolate and caramel.
Finish
Surprisingly long and leaves the mouth dry.
