Description

This Littlemill 1992 22 Year Old is an independent bottling by Cadenhead's, Scotland's oldest independent bottler. Distilled in 1992 at the now-closed Lowland distillery of Littlemill, it was matured for 22 years in bourbon hogsheads and bottled in 2014 as part of Cadenhead's Small Batch series, with an outturn of 558 bottles. Littlemill, a Lowland single malt distillery, ceased production in 1994 and was later demolished, making its whiskies highly sought after. This release is non-chill filtered and bottled at cask strength.

Nose
A little oily to begin with, opening up to classic old style Littlemill with lots of cream and lemony notes, warm buttered brown bread toast, faint eucalyptus, and hot buttered sweetcorn. Grassy, dried, with some moist grass and old wet oak. Green apples and white grapes, buttery.
Palate
Much bigger than the nose suggests, very rich and fruity. Brambles with lychees, hints of fresh basil, spice coriander, and dry vermouth. Oily mouthfeel, spicy with black pepper and cloves, followed by lemon, raspberry, and grapefruit. Coats the whole palate with an abundance of flavours.
Finish
The finish goes on and on, delivering more of the nose and palate with a rich oily feel and waxy fruitiness. Hint of chocolate, some pineapple, lovely creamy. Long and mildly spicy at full strength.
