Description
Littlemill 1976 Testament to the Past 44 Year Old is an exceptionally rare single malt Scotch whisky from the sadly closed Littlemill Distillery, one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries. Distilled in 1976 and aged for 44 years, this release was bottled in December 2020. It represents the oldest and most limited release to date from Littlemill, with only 250 bottles produced. The distillery, which ceased production in 1994 and was destroyed by fire in 2004, has its legacy preserved in this tribute. The whisky was re-casked in American oak hogsheads in 1996, then three of these casks were vatted into two first-fill Oloroso sherry hogsheads for a four-month finishing period, before a final two months of blending prior to bottling. Each bottle is presented in a hand-blown decanter with a dress stopper made from natural sandstone rescued from the remains of the distillery.
