Description

A former Highland distillery that was constructed by Joseph Hobbs in 1957 within the structure of a former brewery, first opened in 1786. Only operational until 1992, it mostly produced malt whisky for blending although a Lochside brand was briefly marketed. It also produced grain whisky in its early years. * *

Nose
Fresh, spicy, vanilla, licorice, hints of damp cellar, flowery, developing into sweat, dry construction wood or sawdust, and vanilla ice cream. Also notes of cereal, lemons, oranges, pineapple, apricots, tangerines, lilies, and grapefruit.
Palate
Full-bodied and spicy, with vanilla and apricot sauce. Slightly beer-like bitterness, black pepper, alcoholic cherry bon-bon, blueberry juice, and creamy vanilla. Also notes of grapefruit, lemons, pineapple, wood spice, white pepper, and fennel seeds.
Finish
Medium length, grassy and dry, with wood spice and notes of oranges. Long with a sliver of grass and lingering fruits, with a drop of cough syrup.
