Nose
Very rich and intense, with excellent old sherry notes of chocolate, figs, and rancio. Also surprisingly fresh notes of violets, bramble, black cherry, furniture wax, and hints of blood oranges. Spicy Christmas cake with cinnamon and cardamom, mint, dried fruits, wood, anise, wet oak, pine cones, and resin.
Palate
Starts with coffee, a bit sour and dry, then figs with dark chocolate, spices, and strawberry jam. Very intense. Water brings out passion fruit, lemonade, viscous and greasy notes, ginger, peaches, peppers, plums, and beefy characteristics. Fruit, sherry, citrus, steak spices, condensed plum, and root beer barrel candy.
Finish
Long, with predominant cocoa and coffee, strong fig notes. Builds up, becoming dry and dusty with sweetness, very spicy, beefy, and a hint of tree bark. Cayenne and dried red pepper emerge, with cinnamon, meat, black bean sweetness, soy sauce sweetness, raspberry, fig, and a slight ginseng flavor.
