Description

This 1995 vintage Longrow was matured for 8 years in refill bourbon barrels and an additional 2 years in fresh Tokaji (Hungarian Sweet Wine) casks. It was released by the distillery in 2005 as part of their 'Wood Expressions' series with an outturn of 7440 bottles.

Nose
Sweet, funky, and smoky with notes of burnt matches, rotten apples, caramel syrup, orgeot syrup, hazelnuts, stinky dunnage warehouse, ripe apricots, vanilla, and dank peat. Also sweet mix of raisins, plums and caramel, a bit of peat and light smoke with tobacco.
Palate
Rich and thick mouthfeel, sweet and funky. Starts out unctuously thick with rocky road ice cream, vanilla liquor, Rainer cherries, apricots, gym socks, earth, nuts, and almonds. Dry and full bodied with a creamy touch, full of berries, raisins, herbs and peat.
Finish
Medium long finish with funk and smoke, earthy notes, black pepper, sea salt, bonfire, ashes, a bit of sulfur, and a drying, tannic quality. Long finish of berry jam and toffee apple with hints of spicy smoke.
