Description

A revered single malt distillery in Campbeltown that has operated since 1828. It is today owned by J&A Mitchell & Co who produce three single malt styles there. These are its flagship two-and-a-half times distilled Springbank, a heavily-peated malt known as Longrow, and the triple-distilled Hazelburn. The peated single malt produced at Springbank distillery. This 1974 vintage Longrow was distilled as part of Springbank distillery's first experiments in producing a heavily peated spirit, which took place between 1973 and 1975.

Nose
Very creamy, vanilla custard, wax, mineralic, citrus zest, pink grapefruit, passion fruit, wet slate, sea spray, tropical fruit compote and panna cotta, with hints of dry earth and peat smoke, brine, charred oak, and dried fruits.
Palate
Incredibly well balanced, rich and creamy with a slight medicinal hint. Layers of smoky peat, dry ashiness, lime, Polyfiller, oyster shells, languistines, basil oil, tropicality with blow torched pineapple and charred peach halves, chalk, lemon zest, fresh thyme, dark chocolate, toffee, and a touch of spice.
Finish
A long, gentle, warm, and lingering finish with notes of gentle smoke, citric tropical notes, and spice.
