Description

This bottling of Longrow was previously exclusive to members of the Springbank Society. Distilled in 2007, it spent 11 years maturing in a refill re-charred sherry butt, until in 2019 it was selected by Springbank's director of production for society members. Bottled at 56.9% ABV, with an outturn of 2,250 bottles.

Nose
Fresh and fruity. Lots of green tropical fruit including papaya, pear, coconut, lime, and banana. Sweet yeasty wort, cinnamon, nutmeg, turmeric, pastries, salted butter, and a dusty sweetness. Peat is subtle, with notes of seaweed, celery, and kerosene. Water adds orange oil.
Palate
Fragrant with green fruit and flowers. Distinct peat, described as funky, savoury, industrial. More papaya, salted butter, bitter oak, toasted sesame seeds, buttered caramel corn, green raisins, coconut water, and a 'hand cream' note. Water mellows the peat, adding creaminess, more green fruit, floral notes, orange blossom, yogurt, cocoa powder, ginger, tobacco, and nutmeg.
Finish
Fairly long and scented. Strong coconut water, lime, pear, and flowers. Lightly buttery and salty, with a lingering 'hand cream' note. Water adds peppery spice, tobacco, and greenery.
