Description

The Lost Distillery Company was created to attempt the re-creation of the flavour and style of historical distilleries that have not existed for almost a century. The process involves an archiving team identifying characteristics to inform the blending of modern malts. This Lossit Blended Malt Batch #2 is part of the Vintage Collection and aims to recreate the whisky of the now lost Lossit distillery of Islay, which operated from 1817 to 1867.

Nose
Earthy maritime air with cigar leaves, a burst of smoke, dark chocolate, and hints of a warm summer evening. Damp oak, earthy peat, milk chocolate, cigar box, buttered crumpets, sea salt, light basil, vanilla, and farmy peat smoke with barbecued pineapple.
Palate
Sweet baked pears stewing in syrup, subtle butts of smoke with brazil nuts, oily, spicy notes, elegant peat and pepper balance, sweet milk-soaked frosted breakfast cereals, and mixed pepper.
Finish
A beautiful balance of sweetness and spice that fades after a long time, smoke flows to a long finish, peppery, oak, beach pebbles, bittersweet ash, and sweetly medicinal.
