Description
The Macallan Estate Oak is a Speyside single malt whisky, a tribute to The Macallan's heritage and home. A proportion of the barley used to create this whisky is sourced from the Easter Elchies estate, overlooked by the Macallan distillery on the River Spey. This rare spirit is distilled just once a year over the course of a single week. It delivers subtle hints of citrus which balances the traditional sherried richness, resulting in a complex single malt with an extraordinarily long finish. The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow 'cut' of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world.
