Description

This royal release from Macallan was a limited edition bottling of only 1,000 bottles, celebrating the marriage of Prince William to Catherine Middleton on 29th April 2011. It was bottled from two casks, both filled on 29th April - one from 1996 and one from 1999. To create the label and packaging design, Macallan commissioned David Holmes, the creative force behind the 1981 Royal Marriage bottle.

Nose
Rich. Fruit cake, marzipan and lots of beeswax notes, a highly polished floor of a stately pile. The sweetness is akin to dried apricot and sultana; brazil nut, heather, dark chocolate and resin.
Palate
Clean with light tannin. More citric elements here than on the nose. Black banana, dried fruit, liquorice. I prefer its boldness when neat, but water takes it back to the almond area and reveals slightly more oiliness.
Finish
Gentle. Walnut whip. Great balance.
