Description

The Macallan 40 Year Old 2016 Release is a rare and highly coveted single malt Scotch whisky, part of Macallan's Sherry Oak range. Only 500 bottles were produced worldwide, making it a limited edition release. This 40-year-old expression was bottled in 2016 at 45% ABV, having been matured in hand-crafted Sherry oak casks from Jerez, Spain. The whisky was originally part of a batch of 27 casks from nine different vintages, with the youngest distilled in 1976. Macallan's Master Whisky Maker, Bob Dalgarno, set aside a refill butt for further maturation, leading to this exceptional release. It was made available through a virtual ballot draw on the Macallan website, with limited allocation to various international markets.
