A 1989 Macallan single malt, matured in a single refill hogshead for three decades before being bottled by Douglas Laing in October 2019, as part of its Xtra Old Particular The Black Series. This single cask bottling yielded only 230 bottles.

Nose
Clean and unsullied before warming to barley (and barley sugar), some big hitting citrus, grapes and a big hint of Bourbon. Aroma is very pleasant.
Palate
Oh-so-dulcet with muscovado sugar to the fore, and later marzipan, orange, cream and a drift of smoke. This is extremely rich and very balanced in flavour.
Finish
Medium-long with all these flavours being neatly replicated at different stages. Finish is lingering.
