An old bottling of Mackinlay's 12 Year Old Legacy blended Scotch whisky, produced by Charles Mackinlay & Co Ltd and bottled in the 1980s. This release pays tribute to five generations of Mackinlay's blending experience. The Original Mackinlay is described as sweet, mellow, full-bodied, with a lingering taste and malty, rich amber colour. By the early 1980s, the brand was among the best-selling Scotch whiskies in the UK.

Nose
Gentle smoke from a coal fire, chocolate, chopped up herbs, maybe parsley, with a superb marriage between grain and malt. Smoke gets stronger with a good pipe tobacco back note after half an hour.
Palate
Flapjacks, Nutella, bitter black coffee, and peanut brittle. The old and fine grain is present and works well.
Finish
Lasts a while, with gentle cigarette smoke lingering along with coffee and chocolate.
