Description

Mackmyra Grönt Te (Green Tea) Season Edition is a Swedish single malt whisky. It is described as the most innovative of the Season range from master distiller Angela d'Orazio. The whisky is aged in Oloroso sherry barrels and also spends 19 months maturing in Matcha liqueur casks. Four types of Japanese green tea (Yame Gyokuro, Kaoribo Hojicha, Yame Matcha Shinobi, and Yame Sencha) were used to season the casks, imparting fragrant, herbaceous notes to the whisky. It is a non-peated expression.

Nose
Spicy, floral, red berries and fruits with notes of green tea, white pepper and roasted vanilla. Dried grapes, citrus, pear and forest berries. Also, buttery biscuits, lemongrass, vanilla, honeydew melon, apples, caramel, cookies, and slight earthiness.
Palate
Fruity and floral with fine vanilla, herbal green tea notes, green apples, and a light spiciness. Layers of fresh apple, stewed berries, fragrant florals, a soft hint of clove spiciness, spicy oak, juicy fruits, herbs, floral honey, nutmeg, pears, green apples, and a pleasant bitterness. Matcha powder, malt sweetness, savory green tea, and juniper berries are also noted.
Finish
Spicy, fruity with herbal green tea leaves and rich vanilla. Heather honey, grape, white chocolate, baked earth, lingering spices, a feint sweetness, menthol, cardamom, unsweetened cocoa, mildly bitter herbs, mineral salts, malt, and Szechuan.
