Description

Mackmyra Svensk Rök is a Swedish single malt whisky, first launched in 2013, and is the distillery's first peated expression. The name 'Svensk Rök' translates to 'Swedish Smoke,' reflecting its unique character. The smoke flavor is inspired by the traditional Swedish method of preserving food by smoking it over juniper twigs. Mackmyra uses Swedish-grown barley, which is malted and smoked with Swedish peat and juniper wood from the Karinmossen bog. This whisky is bottled without an age statement (NAS) at 46.1% ABV, is non-chill filtered, and has natural color. It is matured in a combination of American oak, Swedish oak, ex-bourbon barrels, and Oloroso seasoned casks, with cask sizes ranging from 30 to 128 liters.

Nose
Intense, fresh, malty, with elegant licorice and herbal smoke, notes of vetiver, iris, lily of the valley, coconut milk, camphor, nutmeg, and candied lemons through a veil of smoke and ashes. Earthy peat, warm smoke, vanilla fudge, and a whisper of citrus.
Palate
Sweet and tender, with bright juniper, sweet soot, and vanilla. Smokey with notes of peat, oak, tobacco leaves, herbs, salt, anise, and green fruits.
Finish
Medium length with plenty of oak and smoke. Spicy, dry, and ashy, with salt, liquorice, herbs, and an oaky smokey linger.
