Description

This eight-year-old blend from Ian Macleod has been dubbed Isle of Skye, with the blend based around malt whisky from the Islands and Speyside. It is crafted according to a secret family recipe and island traditions from fine Speyside and Highland malts and grain whiskies. The youngest whisky in the blend has aged for at least 8 years, and it is mellowed in oak casks.

Nose
Quite smoky on the nose, with crème anglaise, digestive biscuits, and hints of cocoa powder. Also notes of pears, honey, peat, orchard fruit, vanilla, citrus, warm grain, caramel, and light charry smoke.
Palate
Sweet and creamy with gooey sticky toffee pudding, gingerbread, fruitcake, and sherried spices among a little more smoke and sea. Peat, caramel, dark fruit, brine, malt, honey, vanilla, orchard fruit, and hints of tropical fruits.
Finish
Nutty and spicy, with almond oil and black pepper. Buttery caramel, apricots, peat, honey butter, and some raw grain all mix and mingle as they slowly fade out. Dry to finish with continued smoke.
