Description

Mars Maltage 20 Years Old Vintage Satsuma 1984 is a remarkable whisky that captures the spirit of time and skillful workmanship. This magnificent spirit, painstakingly created and matured for twenty years, offers a memorable flavor experience. Distilled in 1984, it pays homage to its heritage, a time when dedication to detail and quality resulted in an exceptional whisky. Owing to its extended maturing period in oak barrels, it has a rich and varied flavor profile that includes hints of warm spices, mild sweetness, and a lingering, alluring smokiness. The aroma of Satsuma oranges fills the air, creating a sensory delight. It presents subtleties of oak, vanilla, and dried fruits that have mellowed together to produce a sensory masterpiece.

Nose
sour apples and perfume, vegetative, quite fragrant, has a slight sharpness to it, extremely unbalanced as I could feel a pull between a sour fruity aroma against a more full bodied vegetative juice.
Palate
seems to be well bodied, dry, a little powdery on the tongue, initial palate is sour and vegetative, mid palate is black peppers and some hints of beef or pork, back palate is sour fruit and smoke with the smoke overtaking everything with more sips. Overall its wooden grapes with lotus leaves.
Finish
dry, medium, slightly smokey, getting towards that old wet steamed lotus leaves aftertaste.
