Description

This very rare Japanese single malt whisky, 'The Malt of Kagoshima 1984 25 Year Old', was distilled in May 1984 at the now-closed Kagoshima distillery, owned by Mars Whisky (Hombo Shuzo Co. Ltd.). It is a vatting of five sherry casks, matured for 25 years and bottled in October 2009. This release of 3,018 numbered bottles represents the final vintage single malt distilled in Kagoshima, harmonizing a profound flavor with a peaty aroma.

Very unusual. Hints of soy sauce, cut grass, motor oil, rubber tyres, butter, linseed oil, sherry and sultanas.
Palate
About as umami-rich as they come, this is a medium bodied whisky with tons of spice. Notes of caramel, sherried peels, spent matches, burnt sugar, black pepper and paraffin.
Finish
Medium length with notes of caramel and salted caramels. Cinnamon, nutmeg and honey sweetness.
