Description

Meikle Toir 5-year-old The Turbo is one of the peated Speyside single malt whiskies made at Billy Walker's Glenallachie distillery. This 2025 Edition is the third installment of its annual small batch peated series. The Turbo 5 has a high phenol content of 72 PPM, reflecting its intense smokiness. It is matured for five years in a combination of five American Virgin Oak casks and four Oloroso Hogsheads. The whisky is non-chill filtered and has natural color.

Nose
Manuka honey, toasted caramel and smoked cedarwood, with butterscotch, treacle tart and spiced orange peel. Ashen smoke, barbecued meats, charred oak, earthy peat, dried fruits, treacle, sweet vanilla. Strong, dry smoke, roasted nuts, dark wood, hint of embers, spicy aromas, vanilla, subtle sweetness, hints of dried fruit.
Palate
Heather honey, roasted hazelnuts and baking spices, followed by ginger, mocha and molasses, with smouldering oak, dark chocolate and plum jam. Bold wave of smoke and spice, cracked black pepper, espresso, liquorice, balanced by honeyed malt, toffee, leathery richness. Intense and powerful with a distinct peat character, spicy smoke, oak spice, sweet malt, light fruitiness, vanilla, dark honey, hint of bitter chocolate.
Finish
Long and robust, smouldering embers, dark chocolate, and oloroso warmth carry through. Long and smoky with dry ash, oak, and a hint of sherry sweetness. Lingering finish of dark chocolate and plum jam.
