Description

A pioneering French whisky company established by the Belgian winemaker, Michel Couvreur. Founded in 1988, its whiskies are distilled in Scotland before being shipped in cask to age in specially selected wine casks at the company's cellar in Burgundy. This 1994 Spirale 18 Year Old expression was matured in a Vin de Paille Jura Cask.

Nose
Plush aromatics hint at dried fruits, vanilla, beeswax, light raisin cake, whispers of ginger and sulphur. Sweet licorice, wine gum (mango, pineapple, kiwi, light cherries, bananas, pears, hint of wild berries). Lightly spicy, fruity oak with caramel.
Palate
Intense, with ginger and cardamom, followed by malt and bittersweet oak. Well balanced spices. Sparkling milk chocolate, fruit mix of cherries, plums, dates, and raisins. Oak and leather. Extremely full and creamy, with a musty-leathery and musty cherry note developing.
Finish
Solid length. Chocolate-cherry and leather remain, long finish.
