Description
Midleton Dair Ghaelach Grinsell's Wood Tree No. 5 is part of the Dair Ghaelach (Irish for 'Irish oak') collection, a series exploring the use of native Irish oak for whiskey maturation. This Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is a blend of 15 to 22-year-old distillates initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels. It was then finished for almost a year in virgin Irish oak hogshead casks made from a single 130-year-old tree (Tree No. 5) from Grinsell's Wood on the Ballaghtobin Estate in Co. Kilkenny. The oak staves were quarter-sawn in Spain and then crafted into casks with a medium toast before being returned to Midleton Distillery in Co. Cork. This release is non-chill filtered and bottled at cask strength. [2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 14, 15]
