Description

The 2017 edition of Midleton Very Rare is a distinguished expression in the annual Very Rare series, a blend of hand-selected single pot still and grain whiskeys from the Midleton Distillery's inventory. This non-age statement whiskey comprises components aged between 12 to 32 years, matured exclusively in ex-bourbon barrels. It was created by Master Distiller Brian Nation and features a new bottle design and presentation box for this vintage.

A delicate introduction of sweet mandarin orange citrus with green banana and vanilla, followed by baking notes, nutmeg, and light herbal notes. Pot Still spices like cardamom and pepper also emerge.
Palate
Smooth and sweet with vanilla, honey, and red apple, evolving into robust spices like cinnamon and clove with a hint of root ginger. Candied orange peel, baked pear, and apricot notes are also present, with a polished antique wood contribution.
Finish
Extra long, with spices subsiding to reveal green fruit, stalks of barley, and touches of clove and green pepper.
