Description

A rare and highly collectible single cask Japanese whisky from the Miyagikyo Distillery, bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. This 1996 vintage spent 17 years maturing in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry butt, resulting in an intense and immense flavor profile that captures the essence of aged Japanese malt with a heavy sherry influence.

Nose
Lots of really dark sherry notes. Prunes, figs and plums. Quite savoury also. Some varnish, as well as leather and tobacco. A little bit of burnt rubber.
Palate
Rich and nutty with lots of licorice, leather and raisins. Cherries and treacle as well, with a hint of sulphur.
Finish
Lots of spices (cloves and nutmeg). Ending on a sweet, dark red fruits. Loooong!
