Description

The unforeseen popularity of Japanese whisky in the 21st century resulted in Nikka finding themselves understocked for their Miyagikyo core range in 2015, discontinuing all of their age-statements as a consequence. This was launched as the sole core range product, but no less well-regarded. Miyagikyo Single Malt Miyagikyo was built in 1969 by the Nikka Whisky company. Nikka was founded in 1934. This Japanese single malt from the Miyagikyo distillery, the second distillery of NIKKA in Sendai, is a no-age-statement version. Single Malt Whisky Miyagikyo features a delicate and elegant aroma like flowers, apples, combined with a delicate fruity and appealing mature essence derived from sherry casks. It is perfect as an aperitif.

Nose
refined and rich. Very floral (hyacinth), daffodils). It evolves into bland tobacco notes. This leaves room for soft spices (saffron, anise, clove) and a hint of sweetness. A touch of ripe citrus fruit preserves. A fine balance between sweetness and bitterness is achieved.
Palate
firm and unctuous. Cocoa powder, almonds and cashew nuts. Bitterness of dark chocolate. A hint of honey. It develops tones of incense and ripe fruit (plum, pear).
Finish
long, serene. Dried grass and sunflower are coupled with notes of ripe grapes, vanilla and flowers (tuberose). It also evolves from fresh to grilled nut flavors.
