Description

Morris Port Barrel was aged in a combination of French and American oak casks using Australian red wine, mainly premium Shiraz, from family-owned wineries in the Barossa wine region. The whisky was then matured in casks containing Morris de Rutherglen Tawny Port. This single malt whisky matured in former port wine barrels, which impart a complex fruitiness and a profound sweetness to the distillate. The bottling is free from chill filtration and coloring, highlighting the pure character of the spirit. [1, 4]

Nose
Aromatic with intense notes of red berries, vanilla, and a hint of spices. Notes of maraschino cherry, cinnamon pastry, dark chocolate with a subtle touch of coconut. Soft orange, maraschino cherry and cinnamon pastry with sticky brown sugar and dark chocolate. [1, 4, 9]
Palate
Full-bodied and velvety, marked by dark chocolate, dried fruits, and a fine spiciness. Lively red fruit flavours open up on the mid-palate, revealing milk chocolate, candied raspberry sweets, followed by blueberries mingling with hints of liquorice. Plump stone fruits, baked apple and dried apricots accompany bread and butter pudding with raisins and baking spice. [1, 4, 9]
Finish
Long-lasting and warm with fruity nuances and a subtle, port-like sweetness. The combination of chocolate, spice and saline notes with hints of blueberry linger for a decadent, lingering finish. Chewy and decadent. A combination of figs, juicy blueberries and rich chocolate add to the lingering nutty caramel finish. [1, 4, 9]
