Description

Signatory was founded by Andrew Symington in 1988. After discovering single cask single malt whisky while managing Prestonfield House Hotel, Andrew bought his first cask, a Glenlivet 1968, and is now one of the largest independent bottlers in Scotland. As of 2002, Signatory Vintage Whisky company became the owner of the Edradour distillery in Perthshire. This Mortlach 2013 11 Year Old is part of Signatory's 100 Proof Edition series, matured in a combination of 1st and 2nd fill Oloroso Sherry Butts and bottled at 57.1% ABV. Mortlach is known for its robust, meaty character, which is harmoniously balanced with the sherry wood influences in this expression.

Rich aromas of dark fruit compote, stewed plums, black cherries, dried figs, caramelized brown sugar, roasted coffee beans, cocoa powder, polished leather, cured meats, toasted walnuts, mango, papaya, mandarin, and light spices.
Palate
Velvety and robust with fruitcake, chewy toffee, chocolate fudge, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, dried apricots, date syrup, earthy umami-rich malt, layers of toffee, caramel, candied orange, plums, dates, gentle spiciness, and a malty character.
Finish
Long, warming, and balanced with gentle dryness, traces of roasted espresso beans, sherried oak, delicate tobacco leaf, lingering oak, dark chocolate, and sweet tobacco. Some notes of dry brulee, cold oak, mango, and spicy tones.
