Nose
Rich fudge spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, and chili peppers; flourless chocolate cake and vanilla bean crème brûlée; decadent desserts, dark chocolate, strawberries, poached pears with a sweet balsamic glaze. Also, oranges, gentle fruity sherry, red berries like raspberries, almost grenadine-like. Complex initial nose offers beeswax, dried apricot, grape and nutmeg. Allowed to breathe, a second sequence of aromas arrives with bitter orange, ginger, verbena and raspberry.
Palate
Viscous and syrupy with bright fruits, berries, tangy balsamic syrup, subtle vanilla bean cream. More sulfur, leather, burnt candle wicks or matches, ginger dark chocolate bars. With time, meatier aspects, gamey, mushrooms, fruity balsamic sauces, peppercorn bite. Overripe oranges, a hint of sulphur and burnt wood. Silky attack is chocolatey and praline. Delicate mouthfeel. Gradually becomes exotic (pineapple).
Finish
Long and classy with fruit, struck matches, and lacquered wood. More bitter blood orange. A hint of leather and dark chocolate. Medium long - it lingers and is pleasant. Silky finish is milky (coconut), honeyed and mentholated.
