Description
The Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt 21 Year Old is a highly acclaimed Japanese Blended Malt Whisky, named after Masataka Taketsuru, the 'father of Japanese whisky' and founder of Nikka. This expression is a blend of carefully selected malt whiskies, aged for at least 21 years, sourced from Nikka's two distilleries: Yoichi (known for its heavier, peated style) and Miyagikyo (known for its elegance and precision). It is matured in a combination of American oak, sherry, and Japanese Mizunara oak casks, which impart a complex profile of dark fruit, oriental spice, and vanilla. The whisky has received numerous awards, including 'World's Best Blended Malt Whisky' multiple times at the World Whiskies Awards. It was discontinued around 2020 due to stock shortages.
