The Yoichi Single Malt 10-Year-Old highlights the distinctive characteristics of the Yoichi Distillery, Nikka Whisky's first distillery built in 1934 on the coast of Hokkaido, the northernmost island of Japan. Crafted using traditional methods that Nikka Whisky's founder, Masataka Taketsuru, learned in Scotland, such as direct coal-fired distillation, this Yoichi age statement captures the authentic character of its historical location. It offers round maturity integrated with distinctive peaty, well-balanced woody and delicate herbaceous notes.

Fresh and herbaceous with hints of fruit like lemon, orange, yuzu, pineapple, mango, and apple. Notes of vanilla, butter cookies, white bread, dried grassy notes, light smoke, soft peat, seaside notes of sand and salt, sandalwood, floral notes, honey, maltose candy, old lacquered wooden furnishings, and temple incense.
Palate
Smooth, lively, fresh and peppery. Flavors of vanilla, lemon, orange, yuzu, pineapple, pear, green grape, honey, honeysuckle, custard, cream, smoke, soft peat, seaside notes, toffee, maple syrup, earthy loam, malt sugar, butter, spices (cinnamon, clove, ginger), wood smoke, brine, bacon, soy sauce, apple sauce, earl grey tea, Guinness stout, candied fruits, and beeswax.
Finish
Long and dry with fresh citrus notes, light pepper, honeyed fruits, vanilla, yuzu, loam, maple syrup, smoke, dried pineapple, toffee, black tea, cinnamon, clove, dried dates, fig preserves, lemon zest, mandarin orange. It is described as drying, aromatic, complex, waxy, and providing a deep warmth with a clean, firm, resolute character.
