Description
The Nikka whisky company was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, with the creation of his Yoichi distillery on the island of Hokkaido. Yoichi malts are described as bold and strong with refined peaty notes and smokiness brought by the traditional direct coal-fired distillation. Sea breeze from the Ishikari Bay delivers a briny hint to the whisky during maturation. This characterful single malt is known for its agreeable peaty notes and a charming smokiness which originates from direct coal-fired distillation. It is a blend of single malts from different years and is a no-age-statement version released in 2016 as a permanent product.
