Description

The Nikka Yoichi Single Malt is a bold and complex Japanese whisky crafted at Nikka's historic Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido, Japan, founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru. Inspired by traditional Scottish techniques, the distillery's coastal climate and direct coal-fired distillation impart a signature smoky, peaty, and subtly briny character. Released in 2016 as a no-age-statement expression, it embodies the distillery's authentic house style, blending various malt whiskies for perfect harmony.

Nose
Fruity and floral with notes of ripe apples, pears, bananas, vanilla, and white flowers. It presents a gentle smokiness, spice, light salted caramel, ginger, cinnamon, lemon rind, and freshly planed oak, with hints of sea-air brine.
Palate
Silky and rich, with a vivid interplay of peat and oak. Sweet, spicy, and fruity, featuring spiced baked apples, barley notes, char, chocolate, roasted nuts, and subtle spices.
Finish
Medium to long, layered with lingering smoke, salted sea breeze, sweet malt, and fruit. The oak char gradually fades, leaving behind earthy peat, spice, and gentle herbal or menthol notes.
