Description

A grain whisky distillery located in Edinburgh and co-owned by both Diageo and the Edrington Group through a joint venture called Lothian Distillers. While most of its stock is destined for blends, some official North British single grain whisky has been bottled over the years. Fragrant Drops is an Edinburgh-based cask broker, bonder and independent bottling company, established in 2020 by George Keeble. This particular release is a 30-year-old single grain whisky from North British, bottled by Fragrant Drops exclusively for The Ensign Craft.

Heaps of vanilla, sweet, creamy, custard doughnuts, vanilla wafers, chantilly cream, light caramel, a little glueiness, creme brûlée, shortbread fingers, hint of peach. Refreshing aroma.
Palate
Creamy vanilla, custard cream biscuits, vanilla sponge cake, thick and viscous mouthfeel, slight warmth, touch of grain alcohol bite, faint hint of fresh mango and fondant icing. Extremely rich and very balanced in flavour.
Finish
Long, good quality vanilla bean ice cream. Quite rich and lovely smooth texture.
