Description

A former malt distillery, North Port (also known as Brechin) was originally opened in 1820 and located in Angus, Scotland. It was shut down by Distillers Company in 1983 and only ever officially bottled a handful of times. This 25-year-old bottling from Cadenhead's Authentic Collection, distilled in 1977 and bottled in 2002, offers a dignified, complex profile that reflects the quiet strength of this long-lost distillery. Cadenhead's is the world's oldest independent bottler of Scotch whisky.

Nose
Classic and complex with notes of dried herbs, fresh hay, leather, beeswax, citrus zest, and a hint of antique books. Beneath it all lies a subtle earthiness reminiscent of damp cellars and autumnal woods. Also wax and fresh fruits, grapefruit and melon.
Palate
Dry and refined. The first sip reveals malt, candied orange peel, and nuts, followed by light tobacco, clove, and a trace of cedarwood. The texture is firm yet elegant, with a waxy, old-school charm. Flavours get jammier with nutmeg, pepper, and toffee sweetness.
Finish
Long and spicy. Dried apple, black tea, and a touch of mineral smoke linger softly. The finish is dignified, classic, and full of quiet intrigue, fading away on a dry note.
