Description

This is the second release of Bruichladdich's Octomore, Edition 02.1, a 5-year-old single malt Scotch whisky. It was, at the time of its release in 2009, the world's most heavily peated whisky at 140ppm. Bottled at 62.5% ABV, this limited edition release had an outturn of approximately 15,000 bottles. It is known for its distinctive peaty, smoky flavor and is matured in American Oak casks.

Palate
Peppery, licorice, sweet wood, creamy, balanced, less complex than the nose, tempest of peaty marine spirit, tidal wave of smoke, green apple, citrus, oak, caramel, spice, diesel-y, rubbery peat, antiseptic, band-aid notes.
Finish
Long, ashy, lingering oily smokiness, vanilla, tannin, tar, aloe mint, slight toothpaste note.
