Description

Octomore 12.2 is a 5-year-old heavily peated Islay single malt whisky from Bruichladdich Distillery. Distilled in 2015, it was matured for 3.5 years in American oak casks (a 50/50 combination of first and second fill) before being finished for 18 months in first-fill French Sauternes wine casks. Bottled at 57.3% ABV and peated to 129.7 ppm, this limited edition release is non-chill filtered and coloring-free, offering a unique balance of intense peat smoke and luscious sweetness.

Nose
Wafts of heavy peat smoke combine with sweet floral fruitiness, melon, honey, and smoked almonds. Notes of orange peel, peaches, ripe sweet melon, lemon, and earthy pine resin.
Palate
Lusciously soft and sweet with fruit, lemon zest, vanilla pods, melon, and orange blossom. Caramel, baking spices, and a touch of dryness carry the smoke and malt sweetness, with rich peat and ripe fruit drizzled in syrup.
Finish
A salty lemon tang arrives as fruit and oak fade, with earthy peat smoke dominating, along with honeysuckle and coconut.
