Description

Old Crow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a historic, easy-drinking bourbon crafted with a traditional Kentucky mash bill and aged in new charred oak. It opens with classic aromas of caramel, vanilla, and light oak, followed by a mellow palate of sweet corn, gentle spice, and a touch of toasted grain. The finish is warm, clean, and pleasantly simple, making it a dependable everyday bourbon. The brand has a venerable history, with Dr. James C. Crow pioneering the sour mash process in the 1830s. This particular bottle is from the 1970s, when the distillery was still operational.

Nose
Sweetened black licorice, blood orange citrus. Almond brittle and black cherries. No dustiness at all, all sweet stone fruits.
Palate
Stone fruits, viscous and smooth immediately. Hints of oak around the edges. Black cherries, burnt almonds, like a just-caught brittle. Fresh leather, sweet and newly polished. Mouthfeel is coating, black cherry Dr. Brown's soda, smooth and viscous.
Finish
Medium length, black cherry and dark chocolate lead with leather adding body. Some oak spice really coats with the chocolate.
