Description
A historic Kentucky distillery and one of the most revered names in American whiskey. It was opened in 1935 and is lauded for the wheat recipe bourbon produced for its Old Fitzgerald and W.L. Weller brands. Its name lives on through these labels, however it has been closed since 1992. A company formed by the merger of A. Ph. Stitzel and W.L. Weller & Sons following the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, Stitzel-Weller Distillery was responsible for producing Old Fitzgerald. The brand was later acquired by Heaven Hill in 1999, which continues to produce it today. This particular bottle is a 7-year-old expression bottled in 1976 at 80 proof (40% ABV) in a half-gallon format.
