Description

Old Grand-Dad is a brand of bourbon whisky distilled at the Jim Beam Plant in Clermont, Kentucky. The brand was created by Raymond B. Hayden and named after his grandfather Basil Hayden, Sr., who was a well known distiller during his lifetime. A fanciful portrait of Hayden Sr. is depicted on the front of each bottle. Aromas of cinnamon, citrus peel, toasted oak, hints of dried fruits, sweet butterscotch, caramel, burnt oak, vanilla, buttered corn fritters, peanut notes, tobacco leaves, old wood, barrel char, rye spice, and light green apples.
Palate
Medium-bodied with notes of sweet vanilla, dried fruits, rye-forward warmth, sweet and spicy cinnamon, dark fruit, anise, caramel, soft pepper, baking spice, apple, oak, leather, nutty wood, citrus peel, herbs, licorice, and butterscotch, with a viscous, oily texture.
Finish
A long lingering peppery finish with caramel sweetness, a pleasant touch of oak, medium balance, baking spices, cinnamon, black pepper, dry oak, and lingering herbal, licorice, and liquid caramel notes.
