Description

This is the 'Number 1 Release' of Old Perth 2004 12 Year Old, a blended malt Scotch whisky from independent bottler Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers (formerly Morrison & Mackay). It is a limited release of 666 bottles, distilled in 2004 and bottled in Summer 2017 at 43.9% ABV. This unique expression combines malt whisky from The Macallan Distillery and Highland Park Distillery, matured in a single sherry cask. It offers a modern interpretation of traditional sherried Scotch whisky with a richly sherried profile and subtle smoke.

Nose
Rich and aromatic, with notes of raisins, orange peel, honeyed malt, polished oak, and soft smoke, alongside hints of spice and dark toffee. Waxy fruit, Demerara sugar, black pepper and a whisper of heather. Blueberries and plums.
Palate
Full-bodied and layered, offering flavours of dried fruits, caramel, malt sweetness, gentle peat smoke, and warming spice, balanced by refined oak. Waves of Sherried raisins and prunes, followed by smoke and mint. Caramel toffee and dark chocolate. Honey and dried apricots. Walnuts. Winter spices such as cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg, and ginger.
Finish
Long and satisfying, with lingering sherried sweetness, soft smoke, spice, and elegant oak. Slightly savoury, though Sherried sweetness remains intact. Mid-long and somewhat dry. Dried apricots. More of those winter spices, cocoa and a touch of oak.
