Description

Old Pulteney Harbour is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Old Pulteney Distillery, located in Wick, in the Highlands of Scotland. This expression is named for the port that built the town, celebrating the distillery's strong connection to the sea. It is matured by the sea in a quartet of hand-selected American oak ex-bourbon casks, including first-fill, second-fill, re-fill, and re-charred styles. The whisky is bottled at 40% ABV and is described as approachable and vibrant, with a character that balances tradition with smooth vibrancy. It was initially released as a supermarket exclusive in the UK.

Nose
Bright and fragrant with notes of creamy vanilla and coconut, rich citrus of marmalade and tangerines, lemon drizzle cake sweetness, and a spicy undertone of fresh oak. Hints of green apple, lime, sugared desiccated coconut, caramelised almond, and light orchards perfume notes are also present, along with subtle coastal brininess.
Palate
Initially sweet, crisp, and fruity with notes of sweet runny honey, vanilla fudge, green apple, pear, white chocolate, salted butterscotch, and creamed coconut. Raisins and tropical fruit deepen into hot toffee and fresh tobacco leaf, with malt and lightly spicy notes.
Finish
Warm, rounded, and long-lasting with rich fruit and spice notes, eventually turning into Old Pulteney's signature mellow sea brine. Stewed fruits, preserved lemons, subtle salinity, caramel, and rich spice are also noted, with a mineralic dryness and plenty of heat.
