Description

The Pulteney distillery was founded in 1826 by James Henderson in the historic Caithness fishing port of Wick. This Old Pulteney Isabella Fortuna WK499 1st Release is a limited edition, travel retail exclusive, bottled at cask strength 52.0% ABV. It is named after the Isabella Fortuna, the last remaining drifter boat in Wick Harbour, registered as WK499. This is the second in a travel retail series, following the WK209 'Good Hope' Edition. Approximately 18,000 bottles were released, with casks selected by Master Blender Stuart Harvey. The whisky is known for its maritime character, influenced by maturation next to the sea.

Nose
Fresh and crisp with vanilla, apples, pears, citrus, and a hint of sweet coconut. Elegant, delicate, and perfumy with notes of greengage, nectarines, nougat, peppermint, and floral hints. A typical Old Pulteney saltiness emerges with wet grains and limestone.
Palate
Fierce attack with dry grassy notes, salt, and lemon. A malty sweetness is present, along with fresh fruit salad, coconut, and sherbet liveliness. Elegant oak and soft spices are also noted.
Finish
Dry, spicy, and lingering with lemon and salt. Medium length.
