Description

A northern Highland malt distillery that famously produces the Old Pulteney brand of single malt. Located in Wick, it was built in 1826 and despite being shut down Prohibition in the town in 1930, it operates today as part of the Inver House Distillers group. Nose
Deep and intense sherry notes with molasses, toffee, chocolate fudge brownies, and a whisper of cappuccino. It presents a dry, coastal character with hints of salt water, flint, slate, peaches, plums, apricot jam, cigars, tobacco leaves, grapefruit, and lemon.
Palate
Unsurprisingly sharp and fierce, with a creamy texture, yet tasting like a high fifties ABV. It delivers thick sherry coating with salty notes, dark chocolate with salt flakes, chili peppers, liquorice, coffee, prune jam, salted caramel, roasted nuts, and a herbal/minty edge.
Finish
Long and dry, with persistent biting and kicking. It features fruit, sherry, coastal notes of salt and slate, heavy cigars, leather, pepper, raisins, and mint chocolate.
