Nose
Aromas of liquorice, gentle beeswax with ulmo honey on crisp toast and tender notes of vanilla. Floral and fruity with bold toasted oak, baking spices, and bourbon barrel vanilla. Nutty and spicy, with cooked sugar, browned butter, poppyseed bagels, spicy cinnamon and nutmeg, cocoa powder, blueberries, candied orange, vanilla-poached pear, and a musty nuttiness.
Palate
Chewy flavours of coffee mocha, orange peel and delicate spice float on active tannins with gentle oils and dark cocoa tones. Thick texture with malt, toffee, and baking spices, then candied lemon and orange. Big dusty spicy oak and toasted nuts, with hay, cooked sugar, strong chocolate, cinnamon, and black tea. Rich, dried stone fruits and soaked sultanas, creamy coconut, cardamom, and oak spice.
Finish
Gratifyingly long and complex with multi-toned sugars and delicate honeys. Loads of roasted malt and chocolate, chocolate orange, chocolate-covered almonds, and buttered popcorn. Smoky oak and cane sugar cola, with lingering coffee and butter. Rich figs and sweet dates with dark cocoa, more vanilla, and lingering oak tannins. Dry and intense with subtle sweetness.
