This is a 5-year-old Straight Rye Whiskey from Penelope Bourbon's Toasted Series, Batch 23-303, bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV). It was distilled on October 13, 2017, by MGP (now Ross & Squibb Distillery) in Indiana, USA, and released in June 2023. The whiskey is finished in new, freshly toasted barrels after full maturation in charred new American oak barrels.

It’s a warmly appealing set of contrasts, with a finish that has a clear presence in the notes.
slowtrain.tram12 SeptBrown sugar and toffee alongside lingering spice is a combination that appeals to me. The toasted oak adds a useful contrast, so the sweetness is not the only thing in view.
