Description

Connoisseurs Choice is one of the most easily recognised ranges from the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail. This range was launched by George Urquhart - one of the first of four generations of the family to build Gordon & MacPhail - back in the 1960s. Pittyvaich was a short-lived distillery (1974-1993) built primarily to provide malt whisky for blends.

Nose
The nose is rather young on yeast and grist. Some lime peel, apple juice and vanilla biscuits. Peanuts. Touch of smoke. Garden herbs. Dried grass. Somewhat underwhelming.
Palate
It is soft (make that light) at first. A bit more fresh and sweet now. Sugared pear. Sugar candy? More spices, now. Some white pepper pushes forward.
Finish
The rather short finish brings back pears and pepper, as well as that tiny bit of smoke.
