Description

The Pittyvaich 33 Year Old 1990 Old & Rare is an extraordinary and rare Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled by Hunter Laing & Co. for their prestigious Old & Rare Platinum series. Distilled in 1990 at the now-lost Pittyvaich Distillery and matured for over three decades in a single Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead, this remarkable whisky was bottled in September 2023 as a limited edition of 223 individually numbered bottles. Long-aged Pittyvaich is exceptionally scarce, and this sherry-rich cask showcases the depth, elegance, and power of one of Speyside's most elusive distilleries. It comes beautifully packaged in a specially crafted wooden box.

Nose
Intense notes of stewed plums, dark chocolate sauce, and various aromatic spices. Subtle putties and fresh paints, old leather, malt extract, marzipan, gun oil, grape pip oil, linseed oil, oily, waxy, old beeswax, furniture polish, overripe apples, and an old Chardonnay from Burgundy.
Palate
Surprisingly soft and sweet, with milk chocolate, rum & raisin ice cream, heather honey, olive oil, propolis, various waxes and oils, very ripe apples and plums with extra-skins. Delicately austere.
Finish
Long, dessert-like, with fresh walnuts, more vegetal oils, green tea, and some sweeter nougat.
